National Tree Day

31 July 2016

National Tree Day on Sunday 31st at the Dog Rocks Sanctuary had to be the most successful event we have held. 90 people volunteered and to quote Liz Roydhouse in her letter of thanks to the group:

‘ … a beautiful day and an enthusiastic, happy group of tree planters.’

Not only did we succeed in planting all 1,000 plants but we also removed Boneseed seedlings. Some special plant species were located including the Tricorne elation - Yellow Rush-lily spotted by Lance and Helen. Stuart, Andrew and Michael identified Green-hood Orchids amongst the rock ferns and moss, Chocolate Lilies, and flowering Sundews that Felicity photographed.

BFS Landcare members provided a delicious homemade morning tea.
