National Tree Day for Schools

Covenant College in the Moorabool River Reserve

Covenant College staff, BFS Landcare members and City of Greater Geelong supervisors all reported that the planting day in the Moorabool River Reserve was a successful occasion. The sun was shining and 56 students competed with the local birds chattering away happily as they worked. 500 shrubs, grasses and ground covers were planted amongst the College’s 2014 plantings in the same area.

Covenant College has been a great supporter of these projects and in return the children are developing a growing awareness of the best ways to care for the natural environment. The local BFS Landcare group helps to educate the children in a practical, hands–on way and provides them with a BBQ lunch after the day’s work is done.
